The Simple Browser Game That Keeps Beating Me
Every once in a while, a game surprises you.
Not because it has incredible graphics or a deep story, but because it’s so simple that you think, “There’s no way this will keep me entertained for long.”
That’s exactly what I thought the first time I opened Agario.
A blank grid. Floating dots. A small circle with my username on it. That was the entire setup. No tutorial, no flashy start screen, just a quiet instruction: survive and grow.
I expected to play for maybe five minutes.
Instead, I spent the next hour trying to grow my blob bigger than everyone else on the map—and failing in spectacular ways.
My First Match: Confidence Didn’t Last Long
The first time I spawned in, my cell looked tiny.
The map was filled with colorful pellets, so I started collecting them immediately. With each pellet I absorbed, my blob grew slightly larger.
It felt satisfying. Simple, but satisfying.
For a brief moment, I thought I understood the game.
Then a massive green cell appeared from the edge of the screen and swallowed me instantly.
No warning. No chance to escape.
Game over.
That was my first real lesson about agario: no matter how big you think you are, there’s always someone bigger.
