How wide will the girth of my tree be at the widest point?

The general rule is that the girth at the widest point of most Christmas trees is between a third and a half of its height. For example, a 6ft tree is approximately 2 to 3ft at it's widest point.

The taller a tree the more likely it is to be closer to a third, rather than a half, of its height.
